Establishing design consistency across multiple products
built for different software platforms
With the development of the AskScout iPhone App underway, our goals for the design team shifted from outlining UX flows to creating the visual style. As design needs began to increase, it became essential that we established a design system to ensure design consistency and efficiently scale design efforts.
To accomplish this, we consolidated all used components outlined within UX flows and created a master design library, complete with font, color, icon, chart, brand, and button stylings. With the AskScout Design System established, UX-flows were updated to reflect visual designs by linking each style and UI-designed component. In parallel, iOS components were also developed to match styling, creating custom components whenever needed.
Once implemented into our iOS workflow, commonly used components helped expand the library across the AskScout ecosystem of products. Taking into account native interactions of each software platform, our system currently supports iOS and Material. As needs arise through feature development, new components are added, continuously expanding the master library. As a result, we’ve created a single source of truth to guide the design process and increase efficiency for a focused team.
